About Me

Angela Guerrero Chapin

I am a child, a teenager, and an adult depending on the situation I find myself in. It has taken years of experiences (some very painful) to get to know these parts of me and learn to love and accept them.  Through these different facets of my being, I can relate with people of all ages and help to direct them inward so that they are able to explore the parts of themselves that need attention, healing or self- acceptance.

Life brings about changes and circumstances that can cause discomfort, pain, and a lot of fear; particularly when things are uncertain and we begin to feel overwhelmed by our emotions. Maya Angelou once said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” For me, counseling is about creating a space in which to lift that agony. It is about feeling despair and having the courage to truly express what needs to be shared in a safe space with a person you trust and are able to be genuinely yourself with.

Therapy gives an opportunity to reflect and explore with a willingness to dig down deep to uncover past hurts that get in the way of us feeling good. I believe it is a process of self-discovery and growth where people learn new ways to cope with suffering, to tell their untold stories that are sitting like burdens inside of them, and accept life's changes with more strength and understanding. Therapy offers an openness for emotions to be felt, released, and befriended so that we are able to really live life being the best version of ourselves.

My counseling style focuses on the whole person and aims to teach people how to connect with their mind, body, spirit, and emotions so that they can feel better about the relationship with themselves, and in turn improve the relationships with those close to them and in their community. Once a connection is made to these parts of our self, we can learn how to nourish them, find balance and truly experience healthy living.

I have found this approach to be helpful with those I've worked with who are suffering from depression and anxiety, as well as, those seeking to find their next step in life, having trouble with a relationship, trying to move on after a relationship has ended or wanting to live in the world feeling more fulfilled.

When I am not counseling, what I enjoy doing most is going to parks to lay under big trees, being outdoors, connecting with people, reading, writing, taking pictures, riding my bike, swimming, practicing yoga and meditation, TRAVELING to world beaches, watching movies, listening to music, DANCING, and singing. I feel lucky to have grown up experiencing two cultures and proud to be Texan-Colombian.
